If you been reading this blog, you know that my daughter Melissa resides in San Francisco. One of the things I felt strongly about when I started this blog, was letting you, my readers know about the culinary world here, in Orlando, FL., as well as in San Francisco, CA. I’m able to do this with her help. A couple of years ago when Melissa was still living in Orlando, we visited Roy’s for dinner, and it was fabulous.

I just found out was the very first Roy’s opened its doors in Hawaii then made it’s move to the mainland. They decided after much deliberation, the next location would be on Mission Street in the Financial District of San Francisco, CA.

Roy’s has definitely made a name for itself here on the east coast as well as the west coast.

Two of the dishes Melissa sampled for lunch were the lobster and shrimp pot stickers with a spicy toga rasht miso butter and the blackened Ahi tuna with a spicy soy butter. Both of the dishes are available here at the Orlando Roy’s as well. The third dish is Roy’s Ahi poke and the fourth is Butterflyfish with a soy vinaigrette. For more information about Roy’s here in Orlando, or San Francisco visit www.roysrestaurant.com

Her next stop was at a place called Lake Chalet with a view that’s just stunning. There is nothing quite like a great meal with a great view, wouldn’t you agree? Lake Chalet is a renovated boathouse with a patio.

This was Melissa’s dinner destination for the evening. This first picture is of Lake Merrit. Below is Lake Chalet. For more information about Lake Chalet visit their website at www.thelakechalet.com.

Hops & Hominy

Image

What a great story this one is. Three friends from Ocala, Florida with southern roots decided to branch out and follow their dream and open a restaurant in San Francisco.

Here are some of the dishes my daughter sampled and then sent the pics to share on my blog. First the potato hash.

How about the biscuits and gravy.

And what southern-inspired restaurant would not have this on their menu, Mac and Cheese.

Finally for dessert, a spectacular apple pie, Yummy! For more information about Hops & Hominy visit their website at www.hopsandhominy.com.

Market Bar

Image

TheMarket Bar attached to the Ferry building, located on the bay, is one of the most popular tourist shopping areas in San Francisco. The Ferry building is filled with unique vendors. Every time I visit my daughter this place is always a must stop for me.

Not only for the farmers’ markets and shops but also for the Market Bar that sits right by the bay. One of the favorites on the menu is their grilled swordfish with a lemon preserve vinaigrette, sunchokes, and lightly sautéed spinach. A variety of great wines and full bar complete the experience. For more information visit their website at www.marketbar.com
