The Dellagio Town Center is located on Sand Lake Rd. The locals living in the Orlando area call this particular strip of road as “restaurant row”.  Restaurateurs of the culinary world have set up shop and are definitely here to stay. My daughter just recently came home for a visit and we decided to check out a restaurant called Urbain 40. We had an amazing dining experience. The atmosphere, both in the restaurant and lounge gave you this very carefree feeling. The lounge was set off to one side of the main dining area. The live music was a mix of blues and jazz which was perfect in its paring of the lounge’s decor.

We started out with the Tuna Carpaccio.  For our entree, we each had a burger, topped with their bacon made in-house. If I had to describe the meal, I would say, life-changing! They took the hamburger to the next level and beyond. If you are a lover of great wines then you will be pleased. Visit www.urbain40.com.

Pharmacy Orlando

Life changing?, Yes!!!  Finally, I got the chance to visit the Pharmacy in Orlando. My daughter came to visit and this was a “must stop” for us. Seeing this place on the Food Network on one of Emeril’s Florida television series. I watched Emeril interview an amazing chef/owner, named Loren Falsone, of the Pharmacy. She talked about using local and seasonal ingredients, that she bought daily, then turning them into spectacular Topas, and desserts. I watched as she served Emeril some sample dishes that she created as I was speechless.

I’m walking up to the entrance when I notice this woman on her phone sitting the steps out front. I stopped dead in my tracks. Melissa’s like, mom, come on. I put my hand up signaling her to wait as I hoped this woman would make eye contact with me. I knew who it was, and I wasn’t moving until I met her. Just like I thought, it was Chef Loren. She took the time to speak with me for a few minutes and then took a picture with me. That’s not all after Melissa and I were seated, she visited our table and asked us if we would like to tour the kitchen. That was a real treat, for me. to be able to see the inner workings of how everything was done behind the scenes.

Our server came over and told us the Chef Loren was sending us out dessert. Could this night get any better?!!! After the desserts arrived and we tasted these delicious creations, Chef Loren came over once more to see how we were enjoying them. We were speechless. Again, “Life Changing”!!!

During my conversations with Chef Loren, I told her how passionate about cooking I was, and that I had my own food blog. She gave me her card and we exchanged emails. Stuff like this just doesn’t happen to me and now that it did, well, it’s a great feeling.

I hope to attend cooking classes hosted by Chef Loren in the near future. That’s going to be so awesome!! For more information visit www.pharmacyorlando.com.

Cooper’s Hawk-Orlando

We recently celebrated Steve’s daughter, Jessica’s birthday at Copper’sHawkWinery and Restaurant. Cooper’s Hawk has two locations in Orlando, one at 8005 International Dr. and the location we visited at 529  N. Alafaya Trail, or visit www.chwinery.com.

This location was nestled in a large shopping complex that’s in the style of an outdoor mall, with an eclectic variety of restaurants, shops, and a movie cineplex.  Here’s a peek into Cooper’s Hawk.

When you enter, you see the wine bar that offers the tastings. All around you are beautiful displays of wine, accessories, and a dessert case filled with chocolate covered strawberries, and chocolate truffles that would be awesome to pair with a dessert wine. The dining room is open and spacious with a contemporary decor.

The menu offers a suggestive wine pairing to go with the dish of your choice.  The Roasted Vegetable Flatbread with Goat Cheese and a Balsamic Glaze was delicious. I chose the Chicken Saltimbocca with Asparagus and Artichokes. My favorite was the Bruschetta with Burrata, Prosciutto, Arugula, and  Balsamic Glaze. That dish went so fast, I wasn’t able to get a picture fast enough!

Happy Birthday Jessica, and thank you for sharing this special night with your father and me.
