British Spice Blend

This homemade British Spice Blend is an awesome alternative whenever a spice blend is called for in any cake spice, pudding spice, or mixed spice baking recipe. This flavorful blend includes all of my favorite warm baking spices and ones I think you’ll love too. This amazing picture comes from the “Bake it With Love” website.

This blend of warm, sweet spices is used for both savory and sweet cooking but traditionally used for holiday baking. This spice blend includes, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, *mace, ground cloves, ground ginger, and ground coriander. These are the standard spiced for this blend, however; ground cardamon, and candied orange peel can also be added when baking sweet recipes.

*Mace: Nutmeg is the seed or ground spice of serveral species of the genus Myristica. Myristica fragrans is a dark-leaved evergreen tree cultivated for two spices derived from its fruit: nutmet, from its seed, and mace, from the seed covering or skin.
