Sorry about slacking on my blogging recently, but we’re trying really hard to finish the outdoor entertainment area. I though I’d post a few pic to kind of give you an idea of where we are going with this whole project.

Having a large back yard is awesome. I have this vision in my head on how everything should look when its finished. Laying the stones for the entertainment area is a huge job. Steve is doing  the job himself. Working full time, he manages to squeeze time in whenever he can. As you can see, we’re almost to the end of the house. Then we have to start laying them outwards from the house. I’m looking forward to having this outdoor kitchen and be able to have family and friends over. My friends have been so patient waiting for this day to come, we’re getting there!

My avocado tree is still in a pot. I want to let the tree get a bit stronger before place it in the ground. I’m thinking the Jasmine vine, that I have behind the sitting area, I’m going to replant along side one of the big trees. It’s going to look great climbing up the tree. I can then place the avocado tree in its place. That’s my plan.

We have such large trees that there are some areas where grass doesn’t grow. That’s the area around the bird bath. I’ve planted Crotons there, in a half moon pattern, to bring some color to that area. I took these pictures at the end of our winter season. You can see the leaves are starting to come back on the trees and the Crotons. I’ve hung some solar lights from the branches that look amazing at night. I also have Crotons along the back of the house. They are the one plant that can take the heat that Florida dishes out.

My small cactus garden I really love. I thought placing the white stones around that area was perfect. You can also see I have a hanging herb garden. Those are the more delicate herbs that don’t do as well as the ones I have in the boxed herb garden out back. Chives, rosemary, and kale do better  in the ground. Listen, it took me a while to figure out what grows better and where!  That brings me to the Hydrangea. I finally found the perfect place for that flower. Hydrangeas are my favorite and I wanted to have one of my own. Every time I planted one, in the yard, it just didn’t make it. It’s all about location, location, location!

Well, this is where we’re at on our vision for an outdoor entertainment area. I hope you’ll keep checking back to see when our project is finally done.
