Landscaping An Outdoor Entertainment Area

Sorry about slacking on posting; we’re working hard to complete our outdoor entertainment area. I thought I’d share a few pictures to give you an idea of where we are going with this whole project.

Having a large backyard is awesome. I have this vision in my head of how everything should look when it’s finished. Laying the stones for the entertainment area is a huge job. Steve is doing the job himself. Working full-time, he manages to squeeze time in whenever he can. As you can see, we’re almost to the end of the house. Then we have to start laying them outwards from the house. I’m looking forward to having this outdoor kitchen finished and being able to entertain family and friends at the house. My friends have been waiting patiently, and we’re getting there!

My avocado tree is still in a pot. I want to let the tree get a bit stronger before placing it in the ground. I’m thinking the Jasmine vine, which I have behind the sitting area, and moving it alongside one of the big trees. It’s going to look great climbing up the tree. I can then place the avocado tree in its place. That’s my plan.

We have such large trees that there are some areas where grass doesn’t grow. That’s the area around the birdbath. I’ve planted Crotons there, in a half-moon pattern, to bring some color to that area. I took these pictures at the end of our winter season. You can see the leaves are starting to come back on the trees and the Crotons. I’ve hung some solar lights from the branches that look amazing at night. I also have Crotons along the back of the house. They are the one plant that can take the heat that Florida dishes out.

The cactus garden I love. I thought that placing the white stones around that area was perfect.

You can also see I have a hanging herb garden where I grow my delicate herbs. Chives, rosemary, and kale do better in the ground. Listen, it took me a while to figure out what grows better and where! That brings me to the Hydrangea. Hydrangeas are my favorite, and I wanted to have one of my own. Every time I planted one, it just didn’t make it. It’s all about location, location, location!

Well, this is where we’re at for our vision for Landscaping an Outdoor Entertainment Area. I hope you’ll keep checking back to see when our project is finally done.
