I’ve lived in Orlando for many years, and I had never visited this restaurant. Crazy right? Something so close yet so far.

Christner’s Prime Steak And Lobster, previously known as Del Frisco’s, has been a staple in the Orlando area for many years. The name change was just that, a contractual decision. The family-run business is still in place.  I like reading the history of restaurants, classic and new. The history of Christner’s, with owners David Christner, his mom, Carole, father Russ, I recommend reading. This is an amazing family, where mom and son continuously bring class and ambiance to the dining experience.

It’s April 18th and we are celebrating Steve’s birthday. I decided to take him to Christner’s for dinner. Christner’s offers professional service in an intimate setting. Let me tell you about our personal experience.

We arrived a little before our reservation that evening. As you can see, we wanted to take a few pictures for my blog. Entering the restaurant, we checked in at the host stand. The lobby was amazing.

Even though we were early, for our 6:00 pm reservation, the hostess immediately escorted us to our table. As we walked through the dining area to our table, my eyes didn’t want to miss a single detail.

We were seated at our table and the host explained that our server was not in yet, but that wasn’t going to interfere with our evening. They introduced us to Scott, who’d be filling in for David.

David was recommended to us through close family friends. When I made the reservations, I asked if it was possible to have a particular server, and they checked to see if he was scheduled that evening, and he was scheduled, so that was perfect.

Scott was so professional, hospitable and welcomed us graciously. He started out by getting us our cocktails and explaining in detail about the menu. I had a few questions about certain items they offered and his detailed knowledge of the menu was on point.

Scott introduced us to David as he passed the baton over without a hitch. We talked and got to know David. Friendly and knowledgable, David took us on a ride we’ll never forget.

We started out with a crab cake as our appetizer. Can I tell you something, this crab cake was so luscious and sweet. It definitely was the best crab cake I’ve ever had.  Next, was our entrée and sides. A 22 ounce USDA Prime Strip for two, Chateau potatoes ( their signature potato dish), and sauteed mushrooms.

The meal was served tableside.  Steve had never experienced tableside service. I loved watching the expressions on his face. I really think our choices on the side dishes paired well with the steak.

Another surprise for us was when Dan, the sommelier, came by our table. Dan was told I was a food blogger. We talked about my passion for food and my love for cooking.  He asked me if I’d like to see where the wine was kept, I said, “yes I would, that would be amazing!”. Wines that needed to be stored at a certain temperature were kept in these large coolers.

Two final and really awesome experiences. The first was dessert!  Orange Cake (their signature dessert) with a scoop of orange ice cream.  Small bits of mandarin oranges throughout a velvety luscious vanilla ice cream. The cake was so delicious it just melted in your mouth. SO YUMMY!

A beautiful sight that brings out the inner child in all of us. Thank you so much to the staff giving Steve a birthday he’ll always remember. The last final surprise of the night was so unexpected. The owner (saloon keeper), David Christner came to our table. We talked about the restaurant and my food blog. Much to my surprise, he found the time, on this busy evening, to take me on a complete tour, with a little backstory about the addition to the restaurant. Here’s a peek of my tour.

Disney Springs 2017

The Boathouse - Disney Springs (5)

This year, when my daughter came to visit, I didn’t think we could top our adventures from the previous year. I was wrong! Before leaving for our Colorado vacation, we spent the entire day at Disney Springs.

We started out our day at The Boathouse.  A restaurant that overlooks the water, and has a bar set up at the end of its dock. Relaxing by the water, taking in the magnificent view, and enjoying a cocktail.

Dinner with family and friends was at Morimoto Asia.  I’d been there before and knew that my friends would love it, and they did! The food was delicious and the restaurants’ decor was simply candy for the eyes.

After an amazing dinner, we walked around. We listened to music, saw sidewalk performers, then, made our way to Paddlefish.  A little trivia, many years ago, this riverboat is known as, Paddlefish, was once named Empress Lilly.

Disney Springs was just magical. Enjoying time with family and good friends. Watching the sunset over the water then seeing it disappear into the horizon was beautiful.  Disney Springs flipped its magical switch, and all the many lights came on. The sparkle of the lights reflecting over the water was simply breathtaking.

Capa

Art Work Representing The Matador's Cape

I had to start my post with this picture above. My amazing daughter Melissa came to visit me this year.  Every year she surprises me with a night out. She puts a great deal of thought and research into where we’ll go to for our special mother-daughter dinner. In the back of my mind, I knew it would be Disney related, and I was right. She chose the Four Seasons Orlando, 17th floor, Capa.

The picture I’ve posted above is where I want to start. When Melissa and I were first seated, I couldn’t help but see this vibrant red color fabric. I’m thinking, is this some type of fabric that’s been pinned so perfectly, and hanging just above all of our heads, or is it some other kind of material. I couldn’t take my eyes off it. The fact that it’s portraying the matador’s red cape flowing throughout the dining area was breathtaking.

Incased in glass, these three beautiful Matador costumes. You just knew by looking at them that they were authentic.

Let me start from the beginning. Melissa and I are on our yearly mom daughter night out. It was a surprise she’d been planning for a while. It’s around 7:30 pm, it’s dark out, and the back streets of Disney property are lit up. We pull up to the Four Seasons Hotel Orlando.

It’s breathtaking!  Then we go inside and this is what we see.

After taking in the main lobby and peeking into other corridors like you see above, we head up to the 17th floor.

Here are a few shots of the dining area. The dining atmosphere is unique in that it greets you with a casualness. There are a few separate dining areas, a lounge area, and, of course, the patio.

The Disney parks fireworks start at 9:00 pm so we were able to catch those out on Capa’s patio while enjoying a glass of wine. I took a few more pictures, overlooking, from the 17th floor, of the Four Seasons Hotel, down to their property below, so awesome!

Antoine And Melissa

Wine Menu

Antoine, the Sommelier for Capa was so amazing! He took his time going over the different wines as if we were the only table in the restaurant. We told him what we were planning on ordering for the different courses and he recommended which wines paired the best with those dishes. Check it out, the menu even lights up!

Antoine was so passionate about his job. I know this because we spoke about the terrible fires in the Napa, California area that had happened recently, and I could see the emotion and sadness he felt. He spoke about how there would probably be serious damage to the soil and to future grape vineyards in that area.

Our Amazing Server At Capa

This man you see in the picture above was our server, Michael. He was attentive and very knowledgeable regarding specific dishes and ingredients. He helped us in making up our minds when it came to deciding on our choices of the different courses.

His timing in bringing the different courses throughout the meal was perfectly timed. This made for an amazing dining experience.

The courses ranged from Spanish Charcuterie and cheeses, Foie Gras, Wagyu Beef Carpaccio, Shrimp- Egg Yolk-Chili with Celery Root Chips, Esparragos, to Rack of Lamb and NY Strip.

At this point, Melissa and I were so full we couldn’t even think about dessert. We did check out their dessert menu and it was out of this world!
