Burgers With Some Inspiration

After visiting my friend’s burger restaurant, It inspired me to make a burger at home that would satisfy that craving. I knew that it had to be juicy, with a soft toasted and buttered bun. It also had to have all the topping that I love. So I went right to work. I noticed a lot of the time that ground beef can be very pricey, so I looked to an alternative. Ground chicken, ground turkey,or ground pork. Hmmm!, I went with ground pork. It was a lot more affordable for the price and I could get double the amount. I decided ground pork it is. Ground pork can be a blank canvas. It will take on whatever flavors you want to add, so that’s what I did. In a large bowl, to the ground pork I added some really bold flavors like,  apricot jam, a little of my favorite barbecue sauce, cumin, chili powder, onion powder, kosher salt, pepper, freshly grated garlic, finely chopped fresh parsley, I knew with some of the sweetness in the jam and barbecue sauce the burgers would caramelize beautifully, and then the cumin with it’s earthy flavor, balance that out along with the chili powder. So I then made all of the mixture into nice size patties. I of course had to have cheese on them, I went with a pepper jack, and then some arugula, tomato, and a thin slice of red onion. It was so good, Steve loved it, so I think the next time, this is going to be the burger for us.Image I
