Whenever someone says to me “The View” I think about the TV show.  Not anymore, thanks to Melissa.  She brought Steve and me to a lounge with a 360-degree view of the city of San Francisco. The atmosphere and the view were breathtaking at the top of San Francisco’s Mariott Marquis. Thank you so much, Melissa, for the memories. Swan Oyster Depot

I couldn’t wait to get to. I’m talking about Swan Oyster Depot. They’re a cross between a retail seafood shop and an oyster bar. There are only twenty bar stools along the counter where you can see them preparing your food.  If your not there when they open the doors you are waiting in a line that goes down the street.  Why not, the seafood comes right out of the bay to your plate that same day.  It doesn’t get any fresher than that. Tommy’s Joynt

When visiting San Francisco, I always made a point to visit the places I saw on the Food Network called,  Unique Eats. I’d never been to San Francisco and Melissa hadn’t lived there very long, so I put together a “food crawl”. I thought that we would stop at each of the places that I saw advertised, a neighborhood institution where the locals hang out.

The First was this different type of barbecue place, unlike anything I’d ever seen before. Tommy’s Joynt is two stories, with an eclectic decor, and a full liquor bar.

You’ll go through a line where all the food is laid out, beautifully behind a glass. All the meats ready to be carved followed by the side dishes. Now you pick out a table. It doesn’t matter where you sit there is so much to see. Your server quickly greets you and gets you the cocktail of your choice. The barbecue was amazing, I was in heaven.
